Running VBS2

VBS2 may run in any configuration if it is running on a separate machine from VBS2Combined Arms.  If it is running on the same machine, however, it must be configured so that it runs in the windowed mode and that the simulation does not stop when that window loses focus. This is done by using either:

VBS2.exe -window -forcesimul -scriptInterruption=0
or
VBS2.exe -window -admin -forcesimul -scriptInterruption=0

The former is to run VBS2 in Trainee mode, the latter in Instructor mode.  The user can then resize the VBS2 window so that it fits one of the screens exactly.

VBS2Combined Arms will automatically connect to the VBS2Combined Arms scenario when the user clicks the “Continue” button in the VBS2 briefing screen.

If a connection does not occur, it is likely because:

  1. There is no VBS2Combined Arms gun line in the mission.
  2. VBS2 is trying to connect with VBS2Combined Arms on a different machine. This is likely because the VBS2StrikeIPAddress.dat file and VBS2FiresIPAddress.dat file got the incorrect IP address inside it.
